Inspired by one of nature's most spectacular events, The Great Migration captures the drama, power, and sheer scale of the annual wildebeest migration across the African plains. This original coloured pencil drawing depicts the intense moment of a river crossing, where thousands of wildebeest must brave fast-flowing waters and lurking predators in their relentless journey in search of fresh grazing.
Every detail has been carefully rendered in coloured pencil, from the movement and energy of the herd to the rich tones and textures of the surrounding landscape. The scene conveys both the beauty and the harsh realities of life in the wild, showcasing one of the most remarkable wildlife spectacles on Earth.
Taking over 290 hours to complete, this drawing was a true labour of love and one of the most ambitious pieces I have created. The countless layers of coloured pencil required patience, precision, and dedication, resulting in a highly detailed artwork that became a real centrepiece in my home. Its scale, vibrant colours, and dramatic subject matter make it a striking statement piece and a celebration of the natural world at its most awe-inspiring.
